Tenant Active System XML applications achieve full accreditation under the Cisco Technology Developer Program
Effective risk management and powerful content delivery for today's shopping malls and tomorrow's town centres is now available on a Cisco platform
Tenant Active System (TAS) enables fast and effective communications - one-way, two-way, voice-based, browser-based, fixed, mobile - between shopping centre management and tenanted units. Developed against a detailed specification drawn up by managers from several major UK retail malls, it comes with risk management features such as security alerts and panic alarms as standard. But the real power of TAS is its ability to run value-added business applications that share the same infrastructure. In so doing, it can transform the shopping experience, while offering new revenue streams and opportunities for differentiation.
Active Communications Company Limited (ACCL) - the system's developer - is a full Cisco Technology Developer Partner (CTDP). Recognition of the growing importance of TAS in the retail sector has come in the form of accreditation by Cisco Systems for use of TAS IP Phone XML applications over the Cisco CallManager communication system.
Wayne Connors, Managing Director of ACCL, commented: “The IP-based nature of TAS means that it forms a comprehensive platform for any multi-tenanted development. It not only integrates risk management applications, but also allows the processing and sharing of data such as car park information, footfall statistics, and daily turnover figures. It is therefore a logical step that it should be accredited for use with the world's leading converged communications platform.”
TAS consists of a range of modular applications coupled with specialised, small footprint end user devices. In addition to emergency communications and telephone functions, there are also applications for lost child location, wireless communication to security and maintenance staff, and integrated CCTV applications. The system is seamlessly upgradeable and users can easily add more functions as and when required. As part of the ACCL group, TAS provides 24*7*365 support and maintenance, remote fault diagnostic and clearance, centralised system management and configuration, single-point of contact via helpdesk and management of third party suppliers.
Tony Nally, of Cisco Systems, said: “Products from companies such as ACCL, who have attained CDTP status in the Cisco Technology Developer Program, are rigorously tested to ensure Cisco compatibility and a high standard of quality. We are delighted to be associated with an important innovation like TAS, which will help to make the shopping experience safer and more fulfilling.”
